Good News School (Ecole Bonne Nouvelle)

The initial vision behind the school was to provide a good school for children of Malagasy staff coming from elsewhere in Madagascar (particularly Antananarivo) so that the staff would not think that they needed to return to Antananarivo for their children’s education. It has been the aim to provide a good quality of Christian education in French, starting from the first year of primary school. The school has been opened to other pupils from the town. Each year an extra class has been added. We now have 9 classrooms in the newly converted "Maison Tsiranana" in town. Senior civil servants and other influential citizens of the town are sending their children to the school. Dr Adrien's wife, Gisele, is the school "Directrice". The school started in 1998 with 10 children and one room. Now there are 300 children and a staff (some part time) of 23!
