Expanding the Maternity Unit at the Good News Hospital

The maternity department at the Good News Hospital has been busy since the day it was built, but The number of patients coming for care has now reached the point where bigger facilities are urgently needed!

Plans are afoot to extend the department, and you can hear more about the plans from Dr Ted Watts, Dr Shannon Petersen and Midwife Lamintsoa in the video where they share the vision for this project. Watch the Video

  1. Praise the Lord for the provision of 13 trained Christian midwives running a 24/7 service at the Good News Hospital. Pray for Mme Lamintsoa, head midwife, and her team, that they may be given wisdom, skill, compassion and God's love as they care for women through pregnancy and childbirth. Pray for a continued high standard of care and for the in-service training of the staff.

  2. Pray for the proclamation of the gospel message to the patients by the maternity staff and hospital evangelists, and that many would come to trust and follow Jesus.

  3. Sadly, even in a well-run maternity unit, not every mother goes home with a healthy baby. This is particularly the case in Mandritsara where some patients take 2 days or more to travel to the  hospital. Pray for those who go home sad, that they may understand the love of God in their time of need.

  4. Pray for funding for the Maternity Unit Expansion project. This is a major need in order to maintain an adequate maternity department. You can find more details and how to give by clicking here.
